Never purchase any surveillance
equipment unless you can actually experiment with it
on your own (not via a sales representative), right
at your place of business. Otherwise, you may
discover the flaws of the system only once you
actually use it in the real world. And stay
away from those vendors that offer only a short term
warranty on their eDVR systems or eDVR PC cards.
There's obviously a reason for such a limited
warranty period, and I'm sure you can figure out why
on your own. As for the trial period, vendors
tend to limit it so that consumers don't temporarily
purchase products as opposed to lend it for a fee.
Okay, let's talk about surveillance cameras for a
moment ... I suggest you stay away from
cameras that scan less than 380 horizontal TV lines.
And the higher resolution cameras don't behave as
well in varying lighting conditions. As for
colors, there's no need to compromise with black and
white or even day/night cameras anymore. Sony
has come up with a special light sensing technology
that allows surveillance cameras to pick up all of
the fine details normally achieved only with high
quality black and white cameras. Yes, the
colored images show through even under low light
conditions. Unless you are trying to catch
someone on video in total darkness, I strongly
suggest you avoid infrared cameras. They tend
to somewhat distort and give an annoying red tint to
the images. |
